CLM-0054 · Content

Initiation is given to young men between eighteen and twenty in stages. At the first, before an assembly, the candidate drinks a cup of wine and has a sandal laid on his head under a white cloth while he is prayed over, and is enjoined to secrecy. Forty days later he drinks again, swears by the mystery of ʿAyn-Mīm-Sīn, and is told to repeat the word ʿAMS five hundred times a day, again under secrecy. After a further seven months (nine for common people) a third assembly receives him.

The only report found is an unnamed Nusayri informant quoted by Dussaud, who said al-Adhanī 'must have been' killed. Some modern Alawite writers instead call al-Adhanī an invention of missionaries and the Kitāb al-Majmūʿ a forgery.
