Retrieved the Archive scan and metadata; read printed pp. 13–15, 183, 187–188, 201, 213–214, 228, 232–234 and 339–340. Checked the p. 233 image and figure 179 visually. The selected pages support attribution and edition identity; neither all songs nor any graphophone cylinders were reviewed.

Bureau of American Ethnology, Twenty-second Annual Report, part 2, pp. 13–372. The source explicitly identifies the Chaui version and collaboration rather than a pan-Pawnee rule.

Evidence qualifications

Reviewed means checked against a source. It does not establish source authenticity, independent corroboration or present-day practice.

Item notes

Scope basis: expressly secret ceremonies and exclusion/screens (CLM-0180–0181), rather than the whole Hako. Not a generic adolescent initiation or a description of all Pawnee ceremonies. Selected rites and explanations were inspected, not every song.
